Who am I?

I am László. Classical singer, blogger, online marketeer, musical educator, poliamorist, director of an opera company.

My pedagogue mother taught me to appreciate beauty. My novelist father taught me to humanism and to respect the others. My magnificent masters opened the gates of art for me and my granmother introduced me to business selling her ever-loved flowers at the farmers' market.

I try to be a man who I'd like my daughter to marry one day. I try to be a citizen who not just bears but shapes his community. I try to be a human valued not just by their friends but their enemies, too.

This is where I go.

Bio

I had ambivalent feelings receiving the "Nordic Goodwill Ambassador" diploma in 2018, right after I decided to leave my native country, Hungary. I earned this honour mainly as a blogger, one of the best knowns with more than 130 000 followers, standing up for LGBTQ-rights, equality, the freedom of democracy and environmental issues.

But I also much confronted Viktor Orban's populist, xenophobic and racist regime and as more and more people have already realized all over the world, it's not the safest decision a Hungarian can make. So I moved to London where I've been living since.

I have three professions: I graduated as a marketing specialist and journalist at the Metropolitan University and as a classical singer at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music, both in Budapest.

With "the second man of Germany", Prof. Dr. Norbert Lammert

I founded Moltopera in 2011, an opera company of young musicians that performs to young audiences. Our German branch was founded in 2014, debuting in the Parliament of Saxony with the attendance of such notabilities as Prof. Dr. Norbert Lammert, president of the Bundestag or the famous academic, Prof. Dr. Matthias Theodor Vogt.

Moltopera became a huge success in Hungary, as well. We had more than 300 performances from Görlitz to Durham, from universities and schools to the National Theater of Pécs, from one of Europe's biggest pop-rock festival (Sziget) to the Palace of Arts. Our debute in the Hungarian State Opera was selected among the best performances of the year.

At Sziget Festival

That day was a milestone in my life also because due to the sudden illness of the baritone singer I had to jump in to save the performance. On the same day when my opera company, I debuted in Hungary's most presitigous cultural institution having less than 36 hours to learn the role.

During these years beside managing my business as a marketing specialist I helped others's, as well. I'm particularly proud of a course that Mihály Lantos, teacher of National University of Public Service, developed. His learning skill method has been helping thousands of students to be more succesful at school and have more balance in life.

I also acted as the manager of Viktor "Kayamar" Magyaróvári, an extravagant composer who also performs his own pieces as a one-man-choir due to his vocal range expanding over five octaves. Beside many awads he got Brian Eno's special prize at the Noise Festival, in London.

I also have a special programme about opera for those who haven't met or didn't like the genre before. I have a unique approach compounding education, classical music, theather and even stand-up comedy.

I beleive that these performances are not just about one of our culture's highest products, opera, but it opens the door to the appreciation of all forms of high art. This programme have been delivered more than 150 times since 2012 in three countries both in Hungarian and English.

"Being Hungarian" - a performance about our nation's heritage

In my newest, recently debuted performance I talk about the incredibly rich heritage that Hungarians have brought to the world but trying to fight it's nowadays so "trendy" supremacist and nacionalist connotations. As an expat I'm determined to make the best part of the Hungarian and European culture visible for as many people as I can just make it possible.

I also organize and give talks about ethical non-monogamy - a form of relationship based on mutual respect, open communication, emotional and sexual responsibility and ultimate freedom.

My mission is to make people know about this new, budding movement and give a useful, helping personal example of it's everyday issues.

"Being Hungarian" - a performance about our nation's heritage

The last picture in my self-introduction is about the beginning and paying my respects to all of my teachers and masters who worked hard to prepare me for my journey.

In this picture you can see me hugging Zoltán Szabó, my Literature and History teacher, who helped and supported me during my childhood to be a stage performer. This particular photo was taken right after Moltopera's first ever, debuting concert where he suprisingly showed up.

I'm unspeakably lucky having had so many and so magnificent, inspiring masters. I feel obligated to give back to the world from everything I was privileged to receive from them.
